Kentucky State Police today released the names of the individuals involved in the home invasion and fatal shooting that took place on Thursday in Allen County.

State Police in the Post 3 District say 58-year old Steven Dale Cole of Smiths Grove was fatally shot during the home invasion and identified the homeowner as 58-year old Gary Cole of Scottsville.

State Police say they were contacted by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office regarding an alleged home invasion and shooting that took place at 3202 Spears Road in Allen County.

Police say preliminary investigation reveals that Steven Cole was fatally wounded by Gary Cole after they both exchanged gunfire at the residence.

Police say Gary Cole was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment and his condition remains unclear at this time.

The investigation into the fatal shooting and home invasion remains under investigation is being handled by KSP Detective Erik Salman.
